Registered Nurse

 

Description:

William Osler Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency to provide quality, patient-focused nursing care in the Emergency Department. The RN will work as part of an inter-professional healthcare team, ensuring safe, compassionate, and professional care aligned with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards and Osler’s nursing practice expectations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe nursing practice across assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.

  • Provide patient-centered care to ensure physiological and psychological well-being.

  • Respond to emergency situations, recognizing changes in patient health status and consulting appropriately.

  • Provide health teaching and thorough discharge instructions for continuity of care.

  • Practice infection control and prevention measures.

  • Collaborate with the healthcare team and support inter-professional care strategies.


Qualifications:

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a medical-surgical unit (within last 5 years).

  • Emergency nursing experience within the last 5 years preferred.

  • Competency in arrhythmia interpretation (80% score on arrhythmia quiz prior to interview).

  • BCLS required; ACLS and Heart & Stroke certification within six months of hire.

  • Additional certifications (preferred): Coronary Care I & II, Trauma Nursing Core Course, ENPC, PALS, NRP, Emergency Nursing Course (c).

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and Osler’s organizational values.


Work Conditions:

  • 12-hour shifts (days/nights) including weekends and statutory holidays.

  • On-site at Brampton location; may require travel between Osler sites.

  • Physically demanding role requiring excellent assessment skills and ability to manage patient care priorities.
