Description:

The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) is seeking a skilled and dedicated TeleNurse to provide safe, competent, and ethical telehealth nursing services. As a TeleNurse, you will play a vital role in improving patients’ health outcomes through remote care, health risk assessment, and evidence-based nursing interventions.

You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting care for contact centre clients, utilizing specialized communication and information technologies. This role involves close collaboration with other healthcare professionals and requires adherence to the College of Registered Nurses of BC standards, PHSA policies, and clinical guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to or initiate telephone calls, using customer service and therapeutic communication skills.

  • Provide triage, health education, self-care management, and referral services to callers.

  • Recommend additional resources or programs to enhance telehealth nursing practices.

  • Document and forward compliments and complaints to support quality improvement.

  • Collaborate with professionals such as dietitians, pharmacists, and other healthcare services.

  • Contribute to service evaluation, collect statistics, and recommend enhancements to telehealth systems.

  • Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge in prevention, wellness promotion, and chronic disease management.

  • Participate in quality improvement, risk management, and incident investigations as required.

  • Ensure compliance with privacy, confidentiality, security, and informed consent policies.

  • Engage in ongoing professional development and continuous education.


Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.

  • Current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).

  • Minimum 3 years of recent related nursing experience in relevant care settings.

  • Proficiency in MS Word and contact centre applications.

  • Ability to type at least 30 wpm.
