As a regulated healthcare professional, the RN will be accountable for delivering high-quality, patient-focused nursing care while adhering to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities include:
Providing safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, infection control protocols, and patient safety procedures.
Delivering compassionate, professional, and patient-centered care within a culturally diverse environment.
Responding promptly to emergencies, recognizing changes in patient condition, and escalating when required.
Providing patient and family health teaching, thorough discharge planning, and continuity of care support in the community.
Demonstrating strong communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills while working within an inter-professional team.
Maintaining exemplary clinical practice, prioritizing patient care needs, and promoting a safe and supportive work environment.
Qualifications:
Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Recent (within 5 years) oncology and palliative nursing experience required.
Palliative Care Certificate or Certified Hospice Palliative Care Nurse Certificate required.
Foundation in Oncology Nursing Practice course required.
Provincial standardized chemotherapy and biotherapy course required.
Certified in Oncology Nursing Canada preferred.
Foundations of Oncology for Emergency Nurses course required (or to be completed within 1 year of hire).
BCLS certification required.
Strong knowledge of nursing theory, patient- and family-centered care, and excellent physical assessment skills.
Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
Strong commitment to continuous professional development.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and information systems/technology.
Flexibility to work across all Osler sites.
Work Schedule:
Part-time, 12-hour shifts (days/nights), including weekends and statutory holidays.
Hours subject to operational requirements.
