William Osler Health System is actively seeking a Registered Nurse for their Labour and Delivery and Postpartum Units in Brampton, Ontario. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care within a culturally diverse environment, ensuring patient safety and wellness. You will function as part of an inter-professional team, delivering patient-focused services across all phases of the nursing process—from assessment to discharge. The role demands clinical excellence, emotional intelligence, and the ability to adapt in high-pressure, fast-paced healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive nursing care using assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation processes.
Ensure patient-centered, culturally sensitive care with an emphasis on safety and therapeutic relationships.
Respond promptly to changes in patients' health conditions using sound clinical judgment.
Deliver effective health teaching and thorough discharge planning to patients and families.
Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols and workplace health and safety regulations.
Maintain accurate documentation and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
Required Qualifications:
Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
Minimum two years of recent obstetrics experience.
Certification in:
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Fetal Health Surveillance
Obstetrics Nursing (or enrolled within 6 months of hire)
Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario Breastfeeding e-learning course
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
Core Competencies:
Strong physical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
Effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
Team collaboration and excellent patient and family-centered teaching experience.
Familiarity with clinical information systems and relevant healthcare technologies.
Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and client safety best practices.
Additional Details:
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights), including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to operational requirements).
Site Mobility: May be required to work at multiple Osler hospital locations.
