Description:

The Registered Nurse will provide patient-focused, safe, and compassionate nursing care in the Critical Care Unit as part of an inter-professional health care team. The RN will be accountable for all aspects of nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, complying with regulatory and organizational standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Practice safe nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures related to patient observation.

  • Deliver professional and patient-centered care, ensuring physical and psychological well-being in a therapeutic environment.

  • Provide compassionate care respecting cultural diversity.

  • Follow infection control and prevention protocols.

  • Recognize changes in patient condition and respond to emergencies appropriately, including timely consultation and transfer of accountability.

  • Provide health teaching and thorough discharge instructions to patients and families to ensure continuity of care.


Qualifications:

  • Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

  • Critical Care certification and experience as outlined above.

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) and ACLS certifications required.

  • Coronary Care I certification required; Coronary Care II preferred.

Additional Information:

  • Work hours currently include days/nights, 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays.

  • Eligible for Employee Referral Reward Program.

  • Participation in the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) may provide grant funding in exchange for a 2-year employment commitment.
