Regional Community Coordinator

 

Description:

As Regional Community Coordinator, Child and Youth Care, you would be creating a meaningful impact on the wellness of First Nations and Indigenous youth. You will support the implementation of the Aboriginal Youth Suicide Prevention Strategy (NAYSPS) and other culturally rooted initiatives that promote the health and wellness of young people at sub-regional, Nation, and community levels. By fostering Indigenous culture, delivering suicide intervention skills training, and leading youth-focused wellness campaigns, you will help strengthen connections to traditional practices while empowering youth across the region.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have/be –

Education And Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or Psychology, plus 1-2 years of recent and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience working with First Nations peoples, children, youth, and families.
     

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of, and the ability to apply an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations.
  • Knowledge of BC health systems and services, systems-based child and youth care, and community-based health program planning and delivery.
  • Knowledge of risk and protective factors related to suicide, as well as best and promising practices related to suicide prevention, particularly focusing on life promotion.
  • Knowledge of program planning, implementation, management and evaluation.
