Description:

Global BC is looking for a temporary part-time Receptionist to join our administrative team for a 6 month contract, based out of Burnaby. Reporting to the Business Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating a productive and organized reception area and other administrative duties. This position will require regularly working day shifts on Mondays & Tuesdays and may on occasion be required to backfill other shifts. This is a Group 1 position under the current collective agreement.

The following is an outline of some, but not all, of the primary functions and responsibilities for this position.

  • Acting as the first point of contact for employees, guests, clients, and viewers.
  • Answering a multi-line phone system in a professional manner, troubleshooting, and redirecting calls to appropriate parties when necessary.
  • Greeting and providing a welcoming experience for guests and clients visiting the station.
  • Answering questions and providing information to viewers covering a wide range of topics.
  • Monitoring and managing three email inboxes.
  • Assisting with the distribution of prizing to contest winners.
  • General administrative duties such as: ordering and receiving office supplies, arranging couriers, distributing mail/parcels, processing invoices, distributing parking passes, etc.
  • Supporting other reception/administrative duties as required.

Skills and experience you will bring:

  • Previous experience in an administrative and customer service-related position is required.
  • Experience answering a multi-line phone system would be a strong asset.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with empathy, tact, and sincerity in a customer service-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving, decision making, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Reliable, dependable, and punctual.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task when needed.
