Description:

The Critical Care Paramedic Recruit is responsible for providing advanced life support, stabilization, and safe transport of critically ill or injured patients by air and, in some regions, by land. Responsibilities include performing medical interventions within scope of practice, adhering to all Ornge/MOH directives, maintaining equipment, and contributing to a safe, clean, and efficient operational environment. Recruits will complete any required training to achieve CCP certification with Ornge Base Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide urgent and non-urgent critical care patient transport

  • Deliver advanced medical treatments and stabilization

  • Complete accurate and timely documentation

  • Adhere to all medical directives, procedures, and safety protocols

  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and a clean work environment

  • Participate in training toward CCP certification

  • Work various shifts in a 24/7 operational environment, including overnights

  • Relocate to assigned Northern Ontario base as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years active field paramedic practice (5 years preferred)

  • MOH AEMCA certificate or Ontario equivalency eligibility

  • MOH Advanced Care Paramedic certificate or eligibility

  • ACP Program graduation from recognized institution

  • Current ACP certification with a Base Hospital or regulatory body

  • Valid F-Class (or equivalent) driver’s licence and clean abstract

  • Current CPR for Healthcare Professionals and/or ACLS

  • Current immunizations per MOH standards

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (within 90 days)

  • Vulnerable Sector Screening (before or within 90 days of employment)

  • Ability to meet ACP certification requirements with Ornge

  • Completion of MOH Aeromedical Theory Certificate

  • Ability to use respiratory protective equipment (must be clean-shaven)

Additional Requirements:

  • Must relocate to assigned Northern base (except Moosonee residency requirement exemption)
