Quality Supervisor

Description:

Longo's, a proudly Canadian and family-operated food retailer serving communities for over 69 years, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Inventory Control and Quality Supervisor – Night Shift to join their distribution team in Vaughan, Ontario. This role plays a vital part in ensuring operational excellence across inventory control and quality assurance functions during night operations.

The successful candidate will bring leadership, WMS expertise, and a passion for continuous improvement in inventory processes and warehouse quality management. Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & People Management

• Supervise a team of inventory and quality assurance professionals.

• Model Longo’s values of honesty, trustworthiness, and mutual respect.

• Provide coaching, supervision, and performance feedback to team members.

• Promote a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Safety, Sanitation, and Security

• Ensure all safety, food safety, sanitization, and cleaning procedures are strictly followed.

• Support workplace health and safety and equipment security.

• Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse operation.

Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

• Supervise and maintain WMS across the facility.

• Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues or escalate as needed.

• Analyze data and recommend system improvements and workflow enhancements.

• Collaborate with team members to define system and operational needs.

Inventory Control

• Lead the cycle counting process to ensure inventory accuracy.

• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.

• Manage inventory allocation and slotting, aiming for efficiency and waste reduction.

• Oversee stock rotation and expiration monitoring.

• Coordinate with accounting, purchasing, and operations to reconcile inventory data.

Quality Assurance

• Develop and maintain SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for warehouse operations and transportation.

• Monitor, measure, and report process deviations.

• Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance inventory and quality control.

• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve quality issues.

Customer Service

• Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including store managers, department heads, and support centre teams.

Reporting & Documentation

• Create and maintain inventory reports, performance evaluations, coaching records, and deviation tracking.

• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of inventory status and quality control metrics.

Policy & Procedure Implementation

• Train team members on company policies including WHMIS, SOPs, loss prevention, and HR standards.

• Ensure compliance with employment standards and food safety regulations.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

• Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field

• 5–7 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse/distribution setting

• Strong WMS experience (5+ years)

• Proven leadership and team development skills

• Familiarity with inventory control systems, material handling equipment, and warehouse processes

• Understanding of employment standards, WHMIS, and food safety practices

• Ability to drive operational excellence through continuous improvement

Working Conditions:

• On-site warehouse work environment

• Must be able to work night shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

• Occasional travel between warehouse locations
