Purchasing Manager

 

Description:

  • manufacturing opportunities that fit with consumer/customer needs, current portfolio strategy and our distribution system
  • Providing project support for new product launches and changes to existing products at co-manufacturers
  • Managing the transition of business to and from co-manufacturers, including negotiating and structuring co-manufacturing agreements and pricing
  • Managing co-manufacturer relationships and appraising vendor performance on an ongoing basis
  • Leading cost reduction initiatives in conjunction with suppliers and internal business units
  • Developing a solid understanding of internal manufacturing capabilities, to aid in the assessment and formulation of the “make vs buy” decision
  • Providing strong leadership on assigned categories and being regarded as the internal expert
  • Developing an in depth understanding of both current and potential co-manufacturer capabilities, including: technologies, infrastructure, processes, capacity, and distribution capabilities
  • Identifying alternatives for current underperforming sku’s, potential options to include;

o Cost reduction efforts

o Move to alternate co-manufacturer

o Deletion of listed sku(s)

  • Investigating and resolving co-manufacturer non-conformance issues and assuring a successful resolution with vendors on all disputes
  • Works with internal QA and Food Safety to ensure all current and future co-manufacturers meet our QA and FS standards
  • Creating strategic source plans to develop a detailed long-term category/outside purchase outlook
  • Providing businesses with budget cost projections, price forecasts, and monthly variance explanations
