Calian Group, a leading provider of healthcare services to the Department of National Defence (DND), is seeking a part-time Psychiatrist to join their specialized Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) healthcare clinic in Victoria, BC. This exclusive clinic, located at 1200 Colville Road, offers multidisciplinary healthcare to active-duty military personnel.

The Psychiatrist will play a key role in supporting the mental health and operational readiness of CAF members through psychiatric assessments, treatment planning, and therapy. Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnose mental health conditions using DSM criteria.

• Develop individualized treatment plans and provide evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychopharmacological treatments.

• Prepare detailed psychiatric reports and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team on treatment implementation and progress reviews.

• Advise on operational readiness, prognosis, return-to-work planning, and functional assessments for CAF members.

• Provide crisis intervention and emergency psychiatric care when required.

• Conduct telemedicine consultations and remote psychiatric assessments as needed.

• Offer clinical education and preceptorship to healthcare staff and contribute to professional development initiatives.

• Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records and documentation in compliance with professional and legal standards.

• Serve as a subject-matter expert to primary care providers on the diagnosis and management of mental health disorders.

Working Schedule:

• Clinic Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

• Commitment: 0.5 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) — flexible, regular scheduled days per week.

• Work Type: On-site, no weekends or on-call duties required.

Qualifications:

• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.

• Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) in Psychiatry.

• Proven experience treating adults (18–60 years old) with complex mental health disorders including trauma-related, depressive, anxiety, and substance-use conditions.

• Strong background in evidence-based psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.

• Excellent clinical communication and documentation skills.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be eligible for and maintain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level due to the nature of working with military personnel.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Hourly Rate: CAD 240–250 per hour (equivalent to approximately CAD 16,800–17,500 per month for 0.5 FTE).

• Guaranteed hourly pay with administrative time included.
