Roles and Responsibilities:
As a key member of the P&C Actuarial team, you will contribute to diverse actuarial and strategic projects, depending on your skills and interests. Your responsibilities may include:
Pricing and Ratemaking:
- Support rate development, quantitative analysis, and strategic input across multiple Canadian jurisdictions.
- Contribute significantly to the actuarial methods, assumptions, and overall pricing development for client engagements.
- Play an active role in the preparation and review of regulatory rate filings, collaborating with clients to ensure accuracy, compliance, and clear actuarial support.
Analysis and Research:
- Perform actuarial research and statistical analysis to inform pricing models and improve predictive accuracy.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of actuarial tools and analytical processes.
Client and Project Management:
- Support and potentially lead pricing projects with the assistance of a strong internal team.
- Assist in drafting client deliverables and presentations for management and regulatory audiences.
- Provide actuarial advice to client management teams, as needed.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Work closely with members of the P&C team to share knowledge, support projects, and deliver high-quality results.
- Coach and mentor junior staff to develop their technical and professional skills.
- Act as a role model for Eckler’s values and contribute to a positive, high-performance culture.
What you offer:
- ACAS or FCAS designation (or working toward completion).
- Minimum of 5 years of P&C insurance pricing experience.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to validate and challenge results to ensure accuracy and insight.
- Highly organized, disciplined, and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of initiative and ownership.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience managing tasks, mentoring junior colleagues, and collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Interest in developing the expertise required to assume signing actuary responsibilities for regulatory rate filings now or in the future.
- Experience with valuations of policy liabilities and Financial Condition Testing considered an asset.
- A desire to contribute to the success of the team.
