Project Manager

 

Description:

The Project Manager oversees planning, coordination, and administrative management of preclinical studies conducted within PIPA and CBT technology platforms. Acting as the central contact point for internal teams, external collaborators, and clients, this role ensures projects meet timelines, deliverables, and compliance requirements. The position may provide operational and occasional technical support for multimodal imaging projects (e.g., PET, SPECT, MRI, ultrasound, optical fluorescence, SWIR, DXA, X-ray) from study design to data delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordination and Planning:

  • Manage all aspects of preclinical and imaging projects from initiation to completion

  • Collaborate with researchers and platform staff to develop timelines, workflows, and deliverables

  • Prepare project schedules and track progress, providing updates to stakeholders

  • Ensure resource allocation (equipment time, personnel, animal housing) meets project needs

Administrative Support and Compliance:

  • Assist in preparation, submission, and tracking of animal use protocols, amendments, and renewals

  • Help prepare statements of work, master service agreements, and project budget estimates

  • Maintain project documentation, including study protocols, meeting notes, and correspondence

  • Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements for animal welfare and biosafety

Client and Collaborator Liaison:

  • Serve as primary contact for clients and collaborators throughout the project lifecycle

  • Plan and lead project meetings, ensuring clear communication of requirements and timelines

  • Coordinate site visits, demonstrations, and presentations for potential collaborators

Operational and Practical Support:

  • Work with technical staff to ensure availability of equipment, consumables, and reagents

  • Provide practical support for animal work when needed, including preparation, anesthesia, monitoring, and post-procedure care per animal welfare protocols

  • Support basic imaging tasks under platform technologist supervision

  • Track project costs and assist with budgeting and billing

  • Assist with data formatting, ensuring accuracy and completeness

  • Organize training sessions for collaborators and new personnel on platform workflows

Other Tasks:

  • Maintain accurate project records for accountability and audit purposes

  • Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

  • PhD in Life Sciences required; additional management diploma or certificate is an asset

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent communication skills in French and English (written and spoken)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with project management tools (MS Project, Trello, Asana) is an asset

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Knowledge of preclinical imaging workflows or animal research environment is an asset

  • Comfortable with basic animal handling procedures and willing to receive practical training

Additional Information:

  • Work Schedule: 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Location: Site Glen, 1001 boul. Décarie

  • Employment Type: Temporary Full-time
