Description:

Waterfront Toronto is seeking a Project Manager, Communications & Public Engagement to lead strategic communication initiatives and public outreach efforts for waterfront revitalization projects. This role involves developing and implementing multi-channel communication campaigns, stakeholder engagement strategies, and public programming to enhance awareness and community involvement in Toronto’s urban transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and execute public and stakeholder engagement strategies to inform projects and incorporate public input.
Create and implement multi-channel communications campaigns to enhance awareness and engagement.
Write and edit communications content, including newsletters, presentations, project webpages, and social media.
Coordinate public programming and creative placemaking strategies to position future development sites as cultural and recreational destinations.
Plan and execute virtual and in-person public meetings, workshops, and events to foster engagement.
Cultivate relationships with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
Manage external consultants and vendors, ensuring project objectives and deadlines are met.
Provide strategic advice on communication matters, including stakeholder management, reputational risk, and public relations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

✔️ 7 to 10 years of experience in communications, public relations, or community engagement.
✔️ Proven expertise in integrated communications, stakeholder consultation, and event management.
✔️ Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail.
✔️ Experience in real estate or urban planning communications is a strong asset.
✔️ Knowledge of digital communication tools, social media, and traditional media strategies.
✔️ Ability to assess and manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
✔️ Project management experience, ensuring alignment with objectives and deadlines.
✔️ Proficiency in online engagement tools (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Mentimeter, Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
✔️ Adobe Creative Suite experience is an asset.
✔️ Familiarity with AI content tools (e.g., Microsoft CoPilot) is a plus.
✔️ Post-secondary degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
✔️ IAP2, CPRS, or IABC membership/certification is an asset.
