Project Manager

 

Description:

Based at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)-Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis (IMHA) Project Manager will be responsible for providing leadership on implementing IMHA Strategic Research priorities, under the supervision of the IMHA Scientific Director and Assistant Directors as part of the IMHA Team. The IMHA Project Manager must have scientific training, highly developed analytical skills, outstanding communication and computer skills, and have the ability to learn new skills and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Research and Strategic Support
 

  • Contribute to research facilitation activities that support the research communities under the IMHA mandate, align with the CIHR-IMHA strategic plan, and promote patient engagement, knowledge mobilization and open science
  • Support the Scientific Director and Assistant Directors in writing concept papers, briefing notes and business cases to support the implementation of strategic research priorities and the development of funding opportunities
  • Liaise with stakeholders to develop partnerships that support strategic research priorities
  • Support the Assistant Directors in conducting relevance reviews of funding opportunity submissions and validation of funding data to assess alignment with IMHA mandate as needed
  • Use various data sources, data collection methods and funding analytics to analyze and report on relevant indicators that help CIHR-IMHA demonstrate advances in achievement of its mandate (i.e., evaluating the impact of IMHA-related research)
  • Support all operations of IMHA including Institute Advisory Board meetings, as required, under the supervision of the IMHA Scientific Director and Assistant Directors
  • Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans to develop summary reports in support of institute initiatives
  • Contribute to the IMHA monthly newsletter by writing short articles
  • Participate in relevance reviews and CIHR committees, as required
  • Preparing peer reviewed manuscripts to report on meetings and workshops, as required
  • Remain current on IMHA-related research
  • Compile tables, charts, graphs and summarized statistics for integration in research papers or reports
  • Arrange meetings and preparing meeting materials, as required
  • Develop briefing notes and slide decks, as required
     

Project Management and Engagement
 

  • Develop reports, analyses, briefings, and presentations, to ensure effective strategic development, planning and implementation of projects/initiatives and appropriate representation of CIHR-IMHA
  • Manage and update Institute records including, but not limited to funding data, asset maps, stakeholder lists
  • Participate in weekly operational meetings and contribute to the development of key initiatives the Institute leads or partners
  • Assist with the creation of value-added resources for research communities, such as learning modules, blogs, and reports
  • Perform other related duties as required
     

Essential Requirements

Here's What You'll Need:
 

  • A Master's level degree in science (MSc) relevant to IMHA as a minimum, PhD preferred, with a minimum of two year of relevant experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with experience preparing reports, literature reviews, and presentations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in academic administration or a research funding organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse partners, including researchers, health professionals, and community organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at an advanced level.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and respect for diverse perspectives.
  • Ability to obtain Government of Canada Reliability Status Security Clearance.
     

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Experience with R or Python is an asset
  • Fluency in both official languages (English and French) is an asset.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset
