Description:
CSA Group seeks a Project Manager responsible for leading standards development projects, managing technical committees, and delivering high-quality standards within defined timelines and budgets. This role includes facilitating committee work, coordinating stakeholder engagement, and ensuring alignment with CSA Group directives. You will oversee multiple committees composed of volunteer experts across industry, academia, consumer groups, and regulators.
CSA Group’s mission is to make the world safer and more sustainable through standards, testing, inspection, and certification. As a Project Manager, you will help drive this mission by ensuring standards projects are executed efficiently and collaboratively.
Maintain knowledge of the standards industry, government policies, and sector-specific environments (e.g., electrical, climate change).
Identify potential new business opportunities such as emerging standards, training, or education programs.
Understand and explain the Standards funding model for your area.
Apply standards project management processes to ensure projects meet timelines and budgets.
Engage and manage a diverse community of volunteer stakeholders.
Coordinate with internal teams (Editorial & Production, Education Services, Sales, TIC).
Represent CSA Group with clients, customers, or external industry groups.
Resolve conflicts tactfully within committees.
Deliver assigned goals on time and within scope.
Manage committee activities, including developing technical content and high-quality standards documents.
Prepare agendas, minutes, and draft standards in alignment with project plans.
Determine resource needs and maintain budget control.
Renegotiate timelines when necessary, ensuring transparency and no surprises.
CET, BSc, B.Eng., or related technical degree
3–5 years of experience in standards development or project management
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
Experience influencing volunteer committee members
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Conflict resolution capabilities
Experience writing proposals, business plans, and technical documents
Strong organizational and planning abilities
Customer service orientation
Computer proficiency
Ability to manage diverse stakeholders without formal authority
Collaborative team player and effective cross-functional communicator
Proactive and capable of delivering results under deadlines
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Ability to identify emerging opportunities and industry needs
Professional, diplomatic, and detail-oriented
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to travel occasionally (if required by CSA Group)
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
