Description:

Memorial University of Newfoundland is seeking a Project Director to provide strategic and administrative leadership for NL SUPPORT and Quality of Care NL initiatives. This role focuses on fostering patient and public-oriented research to improve healthcare outcomes in Newfoundland and Labrador. Reporting to the Director, Research Initiatives and Services and the NL SUPPORT and Quality of Care Principal Applicant, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading multi-stakeholder research projects, resource allocation, and governance planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic planning, project management, and administrative oversight for NL SUPPORT and Quality of Care NL initiatives.
  • Represent NL SUPPORT in national meetings, including with funding agencies.
  • Oversee financial management, budgeting, and performance reporting for funding agencies.
  • Write and secure grants for project extensions (2026-2028), Phase III federal funding, and smaller grants.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and national SPOR (Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research) partners.
  • Promote high-value care and reduce low-value or environmentally harmful medical practices through Quality of Care NL and Choosing Wisely NL programs.
  • Oversee the implementation of Patient and Public Oriented Research (POR), supporting training and capacity development initiatives.
  • Assist in establishing a Learning Health and Social System, incorporating learning cycles.
  • Directly manage the Quality of Care NL Manager and the NL SUPPORT Engagement and Capacity Development Operational Lead.
  • Ensure full engagement of patient and public partners in research initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (PhD preferred).
  • 5-8 years of progressive leadership experience in academic or health service research administration.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong expertise in strategic planning, budgeting, and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of funding sources, grant processes, and multi-stakeholder research project management.
  • Experience in human resource management, university contractual procedures, and financial negotiations is an asset.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $6,733 - $8,622 per month (Converted from $80,801 - $103,465 per annum).
