Production Manager

Description:

Maple Leaf Foods Inc is seeking a Production Manager to oversee operations across four departments during the night shift at its large-scale facility in Winnipeg, which employs over 1800 team members. This dynamic leadership role is central to ensuring operational efficiency, safety, quality, and continuous improvement across multiple complex production lines including retail bacon, ham boning, processed meats, and fully cooked bacon for retail and food service.

As the Production Manager reporting to the Operations Leader, you will support and lead around 900 employees during evening/night shifts. You will play a strategic role in decision-making, employee development, and driving a culture of excellence in one of Canada's most advanced protein manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote and enforce a strong culture of health, food safety, and quality assurance.

• Take full accountability for production costs, labour efficiency, yields, and operational results.

• Lead and coach the supervisory team with focus on certification, development, and succession planning.

• Maintain positive union and employee relations, resolving grievances and encouraging engagement.

• Drive team performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with Maple Leaf’s vision.

• Champion continuous improvement through Six Sigma projects and cross-functional collaboration.

• Support product innovation in collaboration with the Marketing and Sales teams.

• Ensure production schedules are optimized and executed efficiently.

• Maintain compliance with CFIA, workplace safety, and applicable legislation.

• Regularly conduct team meetings addressing FSQA, people, reliability, and continuous improvement.
