Production Director

Description:

ELDO, a rapidly growing industrial bakery based in Montreal, is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Directeur de Production (Production Director) to lead its daily production operations. The selected candidate will report directly to the President and will play a pivotal role in overseeing efficiency, quality, safety, and profitability across all production lines, aligning operations with ELDO's strategic focus on innovation and excellence in bakery manufacturing.

The role involves full responsibility for managing the end-to-end production of bakery items including breads and pastries. This includes supervising over 50 production team members, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, coordinating with key departments, and implementing continuous improvement practices to elevate productivity and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of production lines (bread, pastries, etc.) ensuring efficiency and quality.

• Manage, coach, and motivate team leaders, operators, and a production staff of 50+.

• Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives for cost control, productivity, and waste reduction.

• Ensure adherence to food safety standards such as SQF, MAPAQ, and HACCP, as well as workplace safety regulations.

• Collaborate with departments including Quality, R&D, Maintenance, Logistics, and Sales to ensure smooth operations.

• Schedule production according to demand forecasts and sales targets.

• Monitor raw material and consumables inventory and coordinate with procurement for stock management.

• Contribute to factory modernization strategies including automation, equipment upgrades, and new product development.

• Track key performance indicators (KPIs), generate weekly production reports, and initiate corrective actions when necessary.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• University degree in Food Engineering, Industrial Management, Manufacturing Production, or a related field.

• At least 7 years of plant or production management experience in the food industry; bakery or pastry sector preferred.

• Expert knowledge of SQF, HACCP, workplace safety, and good manufacturing practices.

• Proven leadership and team mobilization capabilities in a fast-paced production environment.

• Strong skills in planning, problem-solving, data analysis, and budget management.

• Proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, and production management software.

• Bilingual (French/English) is a strong asset.
