Description:
Spin Master, a leading global children’s toy, entertainment, and digital gaming company, is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead technical execution across global toys and games portfolios. This role encompasses concept-to-production responsibilities, ensuring adherence to performance, cost, quality, and schedule standards. The Principal Engineer acts as a thought leader, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Design, Marketing, Engineering, Product Integrity, Packaging, and Consumer Insights to drive technical development and strategic category evolution.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead technical development of products from concept through production.
Define product specifications, identify risks, and implement resolution plans.
Provide coaching and expertise to the engineering team.
Drive strategic initiatives for operational innovation, efficiency, and process improvement.
Explore new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
Coordinate with manufacturing teams internationally to ensure alignment on projects.
Conduct prototyping and proof-of-concept builds to de-risk development.
Utilize PLM software to track deliverables and resolve potential project issues.
Contribute to product roadmaps, process mapping, and design for manufacturing/assembly optimization.
Qualifications:
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Experience in product engineering, toy or CPG industries considered an asset.
Knowledge of plastics, materials, manufacturing, and engineering costs for durable goods.
Proven track record of innovative, cost-effective design solutions and manufacturing success.
Strong technical leadership and coaching abilities.
Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
