Principal Engineer

Description:

Spin Master, a leading global children’s toy, entertainment, and digital gaming company, is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead technical execution across global toys and games portfolios. This role encompasses concept-to-production responsibilities, ensuring adherence to performance, cost, quality, and schedule standards. The Principal Engineer acts as a thought leader, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Design, Marketing, Engineering, Product Integrity, Packaging, and Consumer Insights to drive technical development and strategic category evolution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead technical development of products from concept through production.

• Define product specifications, identify risks, and implement resolution plans.

• Provide coaching and expertise to the engineering team.

• Drive strategic initiatives for operational innovation, efficiency, and process improvement.

• Explore new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes.

• Coordinate with manufacturing teams internationally to ensure alignment on projects.

• Conduct prototyping and proof-of-concept builds to de-risk development.

• Utilize PLM software to track deliverables and resolve potential project issues.

• Contribute to product roadmaps, process mapping, and design for manufacturing/assembly optimization.

Qualifications:

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering preferred.

• Experience in product engineering, toy or CPG industries considered an asset.

• Knowledge of plastics, materials, manufacturing, and engineering costs for durable goods.

• Proven track record of innovative, cost-effective design solutions and manufacturing success.

• Strong technical leadership and coaching abilities.

• Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
