Primary Care Physician

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Primary Care Physician (Family Physician or Emergency Physician) to join the Richmond East Urgent Primary Care Clinic (UPCC) in Richmond, BC. This clinic, newly opened in April 2024, provides urgent care for patients with non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses that require care within 12 to 24 hours but do not require hospital emergency department services.

The UPCC operates 365 days a year with hours from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM Monday to Saturday (including statutory holidays) and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Sundays. The clinic serves patients of all ages and is easily accessible by public transit.

The physician will work in a collaborative, team-based environment alongside nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and social workers. Diagnostic services available on-site include X-ray, ECG, slit lamp, point of care ultrasound, and urine testing. The clinic also has access to specialist support and referrals through Richmond Hospital.

Ideal candidates will have a blend of primary care and urgent/emergent care experience, with an understanding of the importance of foundational primary care integrated with urgent care services. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, is required. Positive, energetic, and empathic communication skills with attention to detail are essential.

Education, Licensing & Experience Requirements:

• Full current license with the College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC)

• Canadian College of Family Physicians (CCFP) certification

• Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) coverage

• Experience and comfort with splinting, casting, suturing, and minor procedures

• Emergency experience preferred but not mandatory

• Opioid Agonist Therapy training is an asset
