Description:
This position requires a skilled Power Electronics Engineer to design, test, and validate inverter and converter power electronics and control systems for traction and propulsion applications, such as railway rolling stock and light rail vehicles. Candidates must have expertise in high power electronics, including AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC converters, three-phase motors, and switching devices (Si/SiC MOSFET, IGBT). Proficiency with MATLAB and Simulink is essential. The role is open only to Canadian citizens willing to relocate to the USA under a TN-1 visa.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and validate power electronics for traction/propulsion systems
Architect and control inverters and various power converters
Size switching devices and filter components
Analyze performance of silicon vs silicon carbide switching devices
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE/MSEE)
Hands-on experience designing inverters and converters
Knowledge of switching device characteristics (Si vs SiC)
Experience with MATLAB, Simulink
Ability to relocate to USA on TN-1 visa (Canadian citizens only)
