Toronto Metropolitan University is offering a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Dworkin group, Department of Mechanical Engineering, with a primary focus on Sustainable Building Energy, particularly Geothermal Heating and Cooling systems. This is an exciting opportunity for researchers aiming to engage in cutting-edge research, develop advanced numerical techniques, and contribute to sustainable energy innovations.

The Postdoctoral Researcher will be involved in developing and applying state-of-the-art numerical simulation methods such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The role includes providing research leadership, mentoring graduate and undergraduate researchers, and contributing to impactful scientific publications.

Key responsibilities include conducting leading-edge research, drafting manuscripts, reports, and proposals, guiding students, managing laboratory tasks, and collaborating with industry professionals. The position emphasizes equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, encouraging applications from traditionally underrepresented groups in STEM.

The Dworkin group, led by Prof. Dworkin, Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Energy Modelling and Simulation, focuses on innovative numerical modelling with complementary experimental work as required. The team comprises Postdoctoral Fellows, PhD, Masters, and undergraduate researchers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field with a focus on Thermofluids

  • Expertise in Numerical Simulation (FEA and/or CFD) and Sustainable Building Energy

  • Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals

  • Strong technical writing, research leadership, and self-motivation skills
