Description:

Dalhousie University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship as part of a national study on 2SLGBTQ+ Poverty in Canada, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) through a Partnership Grant. This pioneering project seeks to examine how poverty affects 2SLGBTQ+ individuals in Canada and aims to develop a national action plan to address systemic inequities through rigorous research, community engagement, and policy analysis.

Working under the supervision of Dr. Margaret Robinson, Canada Research Chair in Reconciliation, Gender, and Identity, the Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to a collaborative and interdisciplinary team of scholars and community organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of 4 Research Assistants and 6 Peer Researchers across Canada.

  • Lead and organize meetings, including chairing project team discussions and community consultations.

  • Participate in quantitative data analysis in collaboration with the Quantitative Working Group.

  • Conduct literature reviews, data gathering, policy scoping using a queer lens, and contribute to research design and methodology.

  • Assist in organizing project events and knowledge mobilization efforts, including the production of the project’s eNewsletter.

  • Engage with publication strategies and co-author academic papers, policy reports, and presentations.

  • Support project administration in coordination with the Project Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A PhD in Social Sciences, Health Studies, or a closely related discipline.

  • A strong research and publication record related to 2SLGBTQ+ issues, poverty, or related fields.

  • Quantitative or mixed methods research experience.

  • Demonstrated skills in policy analysis, literature review, community-based research, and knowledge dissemination.

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Sensitivity and commitment to working with 2SLGBTQ+ communities.

Preferred Assets:

  • Fluency in spoken and written French.

  • Experience using platforms such as Canva, Qualtrics, SharePoint, and Dropbox.
