GFL Environmental Inc., through its Matrec division, is a leading provider of waste collection, recycling, and organic material processing across North America, employing over 20,000 people. The organization is currently seeking a Commis aux pièces (Parts Clerk) to join its Québec team. This role is ideal for a dynamic and motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about supporting operations with efficiency and precision.
As a Parts Clerk, you will play a critical role in supporting mechanics, drivers, and suppliers. You will be responsible for managing parts orders, negotiating prices with suppliers, handling invoicing, managing warranties and claims, and ensuring accurate record-keeping of parts inventory. Additionally, you will be expected to oversee core returns, monitor new parts returns, verify purchase orders and work orders, and perform bi-annual physical inventories. Proficiency with the M5 system for inventory and obsolescence management will be a strong asset.
This position requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. A solid knowledge of Windows environments is essential. Candidates with prior experience in similar roles and familiarity with M5 will be given preference.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support to mechanics, drivers, and suppliers.
Order special parts and negotiate prices with suppliers.
Manage shop supplies and min/max pricing agreements.
Prepare purchase orders for suppliers and manage invoicing.
Oversee warranty claims, returns, and core management.
Verify purchase orders and work orders for the evening shift.
Conduct physical inventory checks twice per year.
Maintain inventory and manage obsolescence in M5 system.
Perform related tasks as required by immediate supervisor.
Skills & Competencies Required:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of inventory management; M5 experience is a plus.
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
Ability to analyze and solve problems quickly and effectively.
Dynamic, passionate, and demonstrates good judgment.
Proficiency in Windows operating environment.
Working Conditions & Benefits:
Permanent full-time role, 40 hours per week, evening schedule (13h–21h).
