The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is a world-renowned paediatric healthcare center dedicated exclusively to children and families. The Ophthalmology Department seeks an Optometrist to provide high-standard supportive eye services in collaboration with staff Ophthalmologists. Key Responsibilities:

• Co-manage patients with staff Ophthalmologists through scheduled patient care activities.

• Deliver patient care within the scope defined by the Ophthalmology Department and hospital clinical privileges.

• Complete patient documentation and correspondence promptly.

• Ensure accuracy of diagnostic and procedure codes for clinical billing.

• Report issues or patient complaints to the Ophthalmologist-in-Chief.

• Participate in medical record reviews when requested.

• Teach medical students, residents, fellows, allied health, and clinical staff as requested.

• Attend rounds and academic events within the department and University of Toronto.

• Adhere to departmental and hospital policies and scope of practice.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Registered Optometrist licensed by the College of Optometrists of Ontario.

• Preferred paediatric clinical ophthalmology or optometry experience.

• Proficient in paediatric vision assessment, including low vision and visual aids.

• Skilled in retinoscopy, funduscopy, slit lamp exam, contact lens fitting, and other relevant clinical exams.

• Effective patient care skills, especially with children and families.

• Strong communication skills.

• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
