Operations Supervisor

Description:

Groupe Somavrac is seeking a dedicated Operations Supervisor for its terminal located in Bécancour, QC. This role plays a key part in overseeing daily operations, coordinating teams, ensuring safety standards, managing production flow, and maintaining a seamless communication channel with management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Health and Safety:

• Lead safety briefings at the start of shifts to identify daily risks and reinforce best practices.

• Ensure all safety regulations are followed, equipment is functional, and proper PPE is worn at all times.

• Participate in health and safety meetings to identify deficiencies and propose corrective actions.

• Conduct terminal inspections to detect safety issues or irregularities.

• Oversee application of safety procedures such as working at heights, confined spaces, lockout-tagout, and hazardous materials handling.

2. Terminal Operations:

• Supervise or execute operational tasks including loading/unloading, storage, handling, site cleanliness, and equipment maintenance.

• Collaborate with the superintendent to coordinate various operational teams and ensure task completion.

• Respond promptly to emergencies and crises to minimize risks and disruptions.

• Lead teams in daily tasks, troubleshoot technical problems, and maintain quality control.

• Ensure adherence to operational procedures and motivate workers for optimal productivity.

3. Maintenance:

• Ensure equipment is operational and well maintained; report malfunctions.

• Diagnose technical issues and breakdowns using appropriate tools in collaboration with maintenance teams.

• Recommend process improvements to enhance maintenance efficiency and resource optimization.

• Supervise subcontractor activities.

4. Additional Tasks:

• Participate in on-call duty rotation.

• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Candidate Profile:

• Education: Vocational diploma in electromechanics, industrial mechanics, or any related combination of training and experience.

• Experience: Minimum 3 years in a supervisory role within industrial or mechanical operations.

• Skills: Strong leadership, interpersonal communication, resourcefulness, attention to detail, organization, vigilance, and efficiency.

• Other Requirements:

  • Language: Fluent in French; working knowledge of English preferred.

  • Software: Proficient in Excel and Outlook.

  • Occasional travel may be required.
