Occupational Therapist

 

Description:

Runnymede Healthcare Centre is expanding its Occupational Therapy services and seeks to add an Occupational Therapist (0.1 FTE) to support patient care programs. The role involves assessing patients’ physical, psychological, perceptual, cognitive, and functional status, designing individualized treatment plans, implementing and evaluating interventions, and educating patients and caregivers. The therapist will also supervise students and collaborate with the inter-professional healthcare team to deliver coordinated care. This position demands a professional committed to enriching patient lives through comprehensive rehabilitation services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients’ physical, psychological, perceptual, cognitive, and functional status

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment

  • Delegate appropriate treatment plan tasks to Occupational Therapy Assistants

  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed

  • Educate patients, families, students, and healthcare providers about Occupational Therapy and patient management

  • Supervise and orient Occupational Therapy and Assistant students

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team through documentation and consultations

  • Participate in patient care meetings and conferences


Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program recognized by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario

  • Current membership in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario

  • FIM certification and experience with NRS considered an asset

  • Clinical experience preferred in rehabilitation, complex continuing care, or acute care hospital environments, including discharge planning

  • Expertise in geriatrics, neurological, and musculoskeletal conditions preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within inter-professional teams

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage workload efficiently

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Strong attendance and work performance record
