Occupational Therapist

 

Description:

William Osler Health System (Osler) is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to provide quality occupational therapy services within a client-centred framework. The role focuses on assessing patients’ physical, perceptual, cognitive, and functional status, implementing interventions to enhance overall functioning, and recommending appropriate support upon discharge. The Occupational Therapist will collaborate with patients, families, students, and interdisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients using formal and informal methods to determine physical, perceptual, cognitive, and functional status.

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate interventions to improve patients’ overall functioning.

  • Provide patient and family education, as well as support to students and interdisciplinary team members.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure practice aligns with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).


Qualifications and Competencies:

  • BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.

  • Membership in CAOT or OSOT preferred.

  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).

  • Experience in adult physical medicine and evidence-based clinical practice.

  • Skilled in psychosocial, cognitive, perceptual, and physical health assessment and interventions.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to manage high caseload volumes in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Flexibility to travel and work across all Osler sites if required.


Work Environment & Hours:

  • Days/evenings, 8-hour shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to operational requirements).
