Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), recognized as one of British Columbia’s top employers, is inviting applications for a part-time Nursing Instructor position within the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program under the Faculty of Health. This opportunity is for a Non-Regular Type 2 faculty role at 75% FTE and will span from May 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026. The role is based in Surrey, BC, and offers a hybrid work environment, blending on-site instruction with flexible delivery methods.

KPU’s BSN program emphasizes a concept-based curriculum rooted in caring and health promotion. The program fosters critical thinking, self-awareness, reflective practice, and community-oriented care, aiming to prepare students to serve in diverse healthcare settings. Upon graduation, students are eligible for registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and to take the Next Generation NCLEX exam to become Registered Nurses.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching:

    • Deliver and manage course content for NRSG 4145 – Nursing Practice 5 during Fall 2025 and Spring 2026.

    • Engage students in complex care practice scenarios and support clinical decision-making.

    • Prepare course materials including syllabi, simulations, field activities, and online/hybrid modules.

    • Provide student assessment, feedback, consultation, and guidance.

    • Facilitate alignment of theory and clinical placements.

  • Curriculum Development & Oversight:

    • Participate in course outline revision and pedagogical planning.

    • Maintain course consistency with program philosophy and learning outcomes.

  • Service and Engagement:

    • Contribute to program and university committees, accreditation, and quality assurance.

    • Attend events representing the Faculty of Health at regional or national levels.

  • Professional Development:

    • Engage in activities that enhance nursing education and personal academic growth.


Qualifications:

  • Academic:

    • Master’s Degree (preferably in Nursing); one degree must be in nursing.

    • A Doctorate is considered an asset.

  • Licensing:

    • Must be eligible for practicing membership with BCCNM, free of conditions, limits, or terms.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum three years of relevant nursing experience, preferably in complex care.

    • Previous post-secondary teaching experience is highly desirable.

    • Fall 2025: NRSG 4145 – 75%

    • Spring 2026: NRSG 4145 – 75%
