Nurse Practitioner

Description:

Shared Health–Soins Communs, in collaboration with NorWest Co-op Community Health, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join their Walk-In Connected Care Clinic in Winnipeg. The role focuses on providing episodic primary care, health promotion, and prevention services to clients in the Inkster/Seven Oaks Community and beyond. The Nurse Practitioner functions as a first-line provider, working within an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply advanced nursing and medical theory to provide autonomous clinical care, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and performing minor procedures.

• Integrate nursing knowledge and experiential learning into clinical practice, contributing to professional knowledge and development.

• Implement strategies for health promotion, illness prevention, and complex care management.

• Provide guidance and problem-solving support among staff and multidisciplinary teams.

• Apply skills in consultation, collaboration, and systems management to ensure effective patient care.

Qualifications:

• Master of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Stream, or equivalent educational preparation approved by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).

• Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (RN Extended Practice).

• Minimum 5 years of recent clinical nursing experience, preferably in primary care or community-based practice.

• Competence in providing primary care services to diverse client groups.

• Demonstrated communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Proficiency with computers, software, and applications; experience with Accuro preferred.

• Current CPR certification.

• Ability to apply harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and community development principles.

• Awareness and sensitivity to cultural diversity and colonialism.

Requirements:

• Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check (must be current within six months of start).
