The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) is seeking a Bilingual Nurse Consultant to join its dedicated healthcare and claims management team in Guelph, Ontario. This pivotal role involves leveraging professional nursing expertise to assess, interpret, and manage medical information in order to support injured workers’ recovery, return to work (RTW), and overall quality of life.
The Nurse Consultant acts as a clinical advisor and key member of WSIB’s case management team, providing evidence-based opinions, identifying barriers to recovery, and recommending interventions that promote safe and timely reintegration into the workplace.
This position offers a unique opportunity to combine clinical experience with policy interpretation and strategic case management, all within a hybrid work environment transitioning to on-site work by 2026.
Assess and review medical reports to identify clinical risk factors that may delay recovery or RTW.
Render and communicate entitlement or compatibility decisions regarding healthcare and dental treatment, applying legislation, policies, and clinical judgment.
Provide professional clinical advice and guidance to case managers, RTW specialists, and other stakeholders to facilitate progress in complex cases.
Conduct file and recovery plan assessments, guiding interventions to overcome medical, psychosocial, and behavioral barriers to recovery.
Collaborate with healthcare providers, employers, and workers to coordinate treatment and ensure smooth integration of clinical care into the RTW process.
Perform medication reviews to identify and address potential treatment issues that may hinder recovery.
Identify cases at risk of prolonged recovery, develop mitigation strategies, and track recovery outcomes.
Educate workers and external partners on WSIB health guidelines, treatment best practices, and the importance of early RTW for improved health outcomes.
Act as a resource for internal WSIB staff, providing expert clinical interpretation and advice on health-related matters.
Support crisis intervention, providing short-term assistance to workers and families at risk of self-harm or distress.
Stay current with clinical education and evidence-based practices, actively participating in professional development and WSIB training sessions.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Nursing, recognized by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Registered Nurse (RN) with active registration in the General Class and in good standing.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a clinical setting such as primary care, occupational health, or acute/community care.
Strong ability to interpret clinical information, apply nursing judgment, and make evidence-based recommendations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Bilingual proficiency (English and French) is required.

Annual Salary: CAD 97,184.05 to CAD 114,334.38
(Monthly equivalent: CAD 8098 to CAD 9528)
