Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan is seeking a highly experienced Engineering Lead, Network to drive the introduction of new connectivity and security technologies while overseeing the organization’s network strategy, design, and continuous improvement initiatives. This leadership role is ideal for a technically strong and visionary professional with deep expertise in enterprise-level network engineering and a passion for innovation.

As the Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of network planning, architecture, and deployment—ensuring robust, scalable, and secure network infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud environments. You will lead design and implementation efforts, manage vendor relationships, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that network systems meet business needs and adhere to performance and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the network strategy, planning, and design roadmap for Ontario Teachers’.

  • Research emerging technologies and lead proof-of-concept (POC) and first-of-a-kind (FOAK) implementations.

  • Manage evaluation, introduction, and deployment of new network technologies (hardware and software).

  • Lead architectural discussions ensuring network solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Oversee infrastructure automation and infrastructure-as-code implementations to enhance efficiency.

  • Provide Level 3 support for infrastructure and commercial software, ensuring minimal downtime.

  • Govern service processes including prioritization, approvals, and key architectural decisions.

  • Design and deploy hybrid network solutions integrating on-prem and cloud systems (Azure, VPN, ExpressRoute, NSG, etc.).

  • Optimize existing data centers and network technologies to maintain reliability and business continuity.

  • Develop KPIs to measure network performance, system design quality, and service effectiveness.

  • Collaborate with managed service providers, manage contracts, and ensure compliance with SLAs.

Technical Expertise Required:

  • Deep knowledge of Cisco ACI, Viptela SD-WAN, CheckPoint, RiverBed NPM, Infoblox, F5 Load Balancers, IDS/IPS, Cisco SDA, Cisco ISE, and Netskope SASE.

  • Proficiency with Windows/Linux platforms and network engineering tools.

  • Experience designing Azure networking environments (VNETs, private endpoints, network peering, and VPNs).

  • Strong understanding of disaster recovery, security protocols, and cloud integrations.

  • Experience managing enterprise networks through managed service models.

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, and F5 are required; ITIL or equivalent certifications are preferred.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Design, or related field.

  • Equivalent combination of education and technical experience will be considered.
