PSP Investments, one of Canada’s largest pension investors with CAD$299.7 billion in net assets as of March 31, 2025, is seeking a talented and motivated Analyst, Natural Resources Investments to join its Montreal office. PSP manages funds for the pension plans of the federal public service, Canadian Forces, RCMP, and Reserve Force, investing globally across a diverse range of asset classes.

This position offers the opportunity to work in an international, fast-paced investment environment where collaboration, analytical rigor, and innovation are highly valued. As part of the Natural Resources (NR) Investments team, you will play a vital role in identifying, evaluating, and managing global investment opportunities across timber, agriculture, seafood, and other natural resource sectors.


Key Responsibilities:

Investment Analysis and Execution:

  • Perform preliminary and in-depth analysis of potential investment opportunities, identifying key merits and risks.

  • Conduct due diligence, meet with management teams, partners, and consultants to evaluate investments.

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models, perform sensitivity analyses, and assess valuation assumptions.

  • Prepare investment recommendation memorandums and assist in presenting findings to internal committees.

Industry Representation and Networking:

  • Actively engage with industry experts, peers, and key stakeholders within the timber, agriculture, seafood, and natural resources sectors.

  • Attend industry conferences, maintain relationships, and stay abreast of evolving market trends.

  • Develop deal flow and strengthen PSP’s presence as a key player in the global natural resources investment landscape.

Portfolio Management and Value Creation:

  • Monitor the financial and operational performance of portfolio investments.

  • Collaborate with portfolio company management teams on strategic projects aimed at value creation.

  • Provide ongoing financial oversight, reporting, and analysis to ensure investment objectives are achieved.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • University degree with strong academic performance.

  • CFA designation or progress toward it considered a strong asset.

  • Proven experience in private investments, consulting, investment banking, or within a natural resources company.

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, and analytical tools.

  • Strong understanding of financial statements and corporate finance principles.

  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines independently or collaboratively.

  • Bilingualism in English and French (or willingness to learn) — necessary for global and local collaboration.

  • Willingness to travel as required.
