We are seeking candidates with an interest in teaching within the Museum & Cultural Management post-graduate certificate program within the School of Communications, Media, Arts and Design at Centennial College. The instructor pool thereby created will be contacted as related teaching positions become available. Candidates should indicate in their subject line which courses from the following list they are interested in potentially being considered for, and whether they would be available to teach in-person and/or online:
- Programming & Interpretation
- Collection Management
- Care of Collections
- Professional Practice
- Design Fundamentals & Exhibition Preparation
- Writing for Exhibitions
- The Relevant Museum
Responsibilities
- Use effective interpersonal communication skills with students, faculty, management, colleagues from other colleges, community members and other professionals in internal and external educational and practice settings
- Provide and promote a respectful and supportive environment based on the principles of inclusion, equity and diversity
- Work effectively in a team-based work environment, including inter-professional teams
- Create and engage students to maintain a positive teaching and learning environment
- Use a variety of appropriate and evidence-based teaching/learning strategies
- Incorporate academic technology effectively to enhance and support student learning
- Evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes using a variety of academic assessment strategies and approaches and provide regular feedback
- Provide academic support to students, in-person or through electronic communication
- Attend meetings, maintains records of student grades/assessments, and participates in meetings and activities pertinent to faculty responsibilities
Qualifications/Experience
- Masters degree+ in related discipline and five-years+ related experience
- Experience and expertise in related areas of practice in the museum or arts/heritage/cultural sector or cultural attraction environment
- Experienced working with, teaching, or mentoring diverse groups of employees or students is preferred
- A solid understanding of the museum & cultural sector in Ontario, Canada and beyond
- Ability to contribute to fostering diversity on campus, in the program, and within the curriculum and discipline
- Demonstrated competence in written, oral and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams
- Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion to meet the needs of our diverse students, staff and college community
