Description:

The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join their culturally rooted, trauma-informed team at the Snuneymuxw First Nations Primary Care Clinic (PCC) in the Nanaimo region. This hybrid role supports a Hub and Spoke model, with the flexibility to serve up to five different clinic locations while anchored administratively in Ladysmith.

The clinician will be part of a collaborative and interdisciplinary care team delivering trauma-informed, culturally safe, and client-centered services grounded in Indigenous worldviews. Mental health services include assessment, collaborative planning, trauma care, education, system navigation, and linkage to resources—delivered through a decolonizing lens that honors clients’ intersecting identities and healing paths.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to directly contribute to FNHA’s mission to support self-determination and improved health outcomes for First Nations communities through a holistic and relational approach to wellness.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mental health, trauma, addiction, and risk assessments and provide treatment planning and interventions

  • Collaborate closely with other care providers in a wrap-around model to deliver integrated care

  • Utilize culturally safe, Indigenous-informed practices in care delivery

  • Support care coordination within a multidisciplinary team

  • Provide clinical consultation and education to clients and families

  • Maintain client records, documentation, and comply with all clinical standards

  • May participate in mobile and remote service delivery to surrounding communities
