Description:
The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join their culturally rooted, trauma-informed team at the Snuneymuxw First Nations Primary Care Clinic (PCC) in the Nanaimo region. This hybrid role supports a Hub and Spoke model, with the flexibility to serve up to five different clinic locations while anchored administratively in Ladysmith.
The clinician will be part of a collaborative and interdisciplinary care team delivering trauma-informed, culturally safe, and client-centered services grounded in Indigenous worldviews. Mental health services include assessment, collaborative planning, trauma care, education, system navigation, and linkage to resources—delivered through a decolonizing lens that honors clients’ intersecting identities and healing paths.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to directly contribute to FNHA’s mission to support self-determination and improved health outcomes for First Nations communities through a holistic and relational approach to wellness.
Conduct mental health, trauma, addiction, and risk assessments and provide treatment planning and interventions
Collaborate closely with other care providers in a wrap-around model to deliver integrated care
Utilize culturally safe, Indigenous-informed practices in care delivery
Support care coordination within a multidisciplinary team
Provide clinical consultation and education to clients and families
Maintain client records, documentation, and comply with all clinical standards
May participate in mobile and remote service delivery to surrounding communities
