The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), the first of its kind in Canada, is a transformative healthcare partner dedicated to supporting self-determined, culturally safe, community-based health services for BC First Nations. Recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers for 2025, FNHA is hiring a Mental Health Clinician for its Fraser West First Nations Primary Care Centre (FW-FNPCC).

This position plays a key role within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team dedicated to delivering trauma-informed, decolonized mental health services to Indigenous populations in the western Fraser Salish Region—supporting communities including Katzie, Tsawwassen, Kwikwetlem, Semiahmoo, and urban Indigenous populations across Burnaby, Delta, Pitt Meadows, New Westminster, Tri-Cities, and White Rock.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clinical services including consultation, intake, assessments, care planning, education, and navigation, using Indigenous-informed, trauma-aware, and decolonizing methodologies.

  • Build trusting therapeutic relationships that recognize clients’ intersectionality and healing journey.

  • Collaborate in team-based primary care settings to ensure holistic mental wellness support.

  • Apply brief intervention methods such as CBT, motivational interviewing, and somatic experiencing modalities.

  • Provide care coordination within a multi-disciplinary team and liaise with community and external services.

  • Conduct mental health, addictions, trauma, and threat/risk assessments, providing post-vention services when necessary.


Required Education & Certifications:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, or related mental health discipline.

  • Advanced training in trauma response, threat/risk assessment, and brief interventions.

  • Registration with a BC professional regulatory body (RCC, CCC, or RSW).

  • Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license with clean driving abstract.


Preferred Experience:

  • Extensive experience working with First Nations communities, applying holistic and culturally grounded approaches.

  • Familiarity with multi-disciplinary mental health and addictions practices.

  • Proven ability to coordinate complex client care and facilitate support networks across organizations.
