Description:
William Osler Health System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist with specialization in Hematology & Transfusion Medicine to join their dynamic team in Brampton, Ontario. This part-time, on-site role offers an exceptional opportunity for healthcare professionals to contribute to one of Canada's leading and most diverse hospital systems, while developing advanced technical and analytical skills in a high-acuity environment.
The successful candidate will work across day, evening, and night shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays. As part of a collaborative and innovation-driven environment, the technologist will engage in critical testing procedures, equipment maintenance, quality control management, and continuous process improvement to uphold exemplary standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify and validate laboratory test results; investigate unexpected or abnormal findings
Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain hematology and transfusion medicine equipment and analyzers
Monitor and assess quality control results, resolving discordant data as per laboratory protocols
Ensure specimen integrity, proper collection, transportation, and storage procedures
Assist in bone marrow collection, perform acceptability checks, and manage test requests
Contribute to the laboratory’s Quality Management System (QMS) and support continuous improvement initiatives
Perform additional laboratory duties as assigned by supervisors
Requirements:
CSMLS certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist
Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
Minimum of 2 years of recent hematology experience in a hospital lab or relevant recent academic training
Demonstrated competence under pressure and commitment to high standards of care
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail
Excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills
Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Meditech, Paradigm, and Microsoft Office considered an asset

Flexibility to work across all Osler sites when required
Additional Information:
Hours: Rotation of days/evenings/nights including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to operational changes)
Union Status: This non-union position is expected to transition into the OPSEU bargaining unit in late 2025
