Medical Laboratory Technologist

 

Description:

William Osler Health System, a leading healthcare provider in Canada, is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join its team. The role involves performing a range of tests and procedures related to the three core laboratory modalities while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. The candidate will also act as a technical resource, manage inventory, maintain regulatory equipment, and provide training and orientation to frontline staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct various laboratory tests and procedures across core laboratory modalities.
  • Serve as a technical resource for staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational guidelines.
  • Maintain and manage laboratory equipment and inventory.
  • Participate in project validations and procedural improvements.
  • Train and guide frontline staff in laboratory operations.
  • Manage workflow efficiently, ensuring timely test results and laboratory efficiency.
  • Utilize hospital and laboratory information systems for documentation.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited medical laboratory technology program (CSMLS).
  • Registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.
  • Minimum three years of experience as a laboratory technologist.
  • Experience working in multiple core laboratory modalities (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Experience in developing processes and procedures is an asset.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer systems and laboratory software.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous education and professional development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Willingness to work and travel across all Osler sites.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $4226 to $5330 per month.
  • HOOPP Pension Plan – Employer contributes $1.26 for every dollar invested.
  • Work Schedule: Days/Evenings/Nights, including weekends and statutory holidays.
