Assiniboine College, through its Russ Edwards School of Agriculture and Environment, is seeking three full-time Faculty members in Mechatronics Engineering Technology to support the launch of its new 3-year diploma program starting in Fall 2025. This exciting program is designed to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing, particularly within Manitoba’s agriculture and food processing industries.

As an Instructor in Mechatronics Engineering Technology, you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of industry professionals by delivering innovative teaching, mentoring students, and leading applied research projects aligned with industry needs. The role involves designing and delivering curriculum, advising students, supporting applied research, and contributing to the development of Manitoba’s future workforce in automation and mechanization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction, curriculum development, and student advising in Mechatronics Engineering Technology.

  • Lead and participate in industry-driven applied research projects.

  • Integrate principles of Indigenization and decolonization into curriculum and instruction.

  • Build strong partnerships with industry, fostering applied research and knowledge transfer.

  • Contribute to the Prairie Innovation Centre for Sustainable Agriculture, a collaborative hub for applied research, innovation, and industry engagement.

  • Actively participate in faculty teamwork and the academic community of Assiniboine College.

Skills & Expertise Required:

For Electrical Engineering – Automation and Robotics:

  • Knowledge of Automation, Robotics, CAD, Control Systems, Electrical Instrumentation, Motors and Drives, and PLCs.

  • Working knowledge of Siemens Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal and FactoryTalk by Rockwell Automation.

For Mechanical Engineering:

  • Knowledge of Automation, Robotics, CAD, Control Systems, Motors and Drives, Fluid Mechanics, and Industrial Automation.

  • Working knowledge of Siemens NX and Autodesk SolidWorks.

For All Faculty Roles:

  • Strong communication, organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team.

  • Existing industry relationships and networks, particularly within prairie or agriculture-related sectors, are an asset.
