Mechanical Designer

Description:

As a Mechanical Designer at Kinova, you will join a multidisciplinary team to design or improve hardware components (controllers, actuators, accessories, and tooling) for robotic solutions. You will lead design projects from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with specifications and Kinova’s product development process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, plan, and execute mechanical development activities for robotic arm modules.

• Support and develop assembly and mounting jigs.

• Write assembly sequences for production teams.

• Perform mechanical simulations and analyses for developed systems.

• Conduct mechanical/electromechanical testing and validation.

• Document designs, analyses, and investigations to support product development and improvement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.

• Proficient in SolidWorks.

• Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) & DFT (Design for Testability).

• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Leadership, autonomy, initiative, and proactivity.

• Bilingual: French and English (oral and written).

• Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.

Desired Characteristics / Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience in robotics and/or medical devices.

• Familiarity with Scrum methodology.

• Knowledge of quality management standards (ISO 13485).

• Experience with IEC 60601, IEC 60204, ISO 13849, UL1740.

• Programming experience in C, C++, Python.
