Description:
Raise is currently recruiting for a Construction Manager to join their client’s Major Capital Projects team, based at Mica Dam, 140km north of Revelstoke, BC. This full-time contract role spans 9 months and involves leading critical infrastructure work in a high-voltage transmission setting. The position offers a rotation schedule of 4 days on, 3 days off, with camp accommodations provided.
The Construction Manager will play a vital role in the replacement of high-voltage Current Transformers (CTs) and the installation of 500kV circuit breakers—components that are key to the integrity of the power transmission network. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of construction execution, from planning to commissioning, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and schedule outage and isolation requirements, working with stakeholders to minimize system disruptions.
Develop detailed construction schedules and commissioning plans.
Lead internal construction teams and manage a small team of Construction Officers.
Coordinate the installation and commissioning of:
500MW generator neutral Current Transformer(s)
Three (3) single-phase 500kV Circuit Breakers
Administer construction and supply-install contracts, including compliance, risk mitigation, and claims management.
Required Qualifications:
15+ years of experience in industrial construction management, particularly with high-voltage electrical equipment.
Proven track record of managing installations, testing, and commissioning in high-voltage settings (500kV).
Prior experience administering complex construction contracts, including RFP processes and claims.
Strong team leadership experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
Excellent understanding of project management and regulatory safety standards (e.g., OSH, WorkSafe BC).
Proficiency in written and spoken English at a professional level.
Additional Requirements:
Must provide own Windows 10 or 11 laptop and smartphone for assignment access.
This role is ideally suited for incorporated contractors, but T4 applicants will also be considered.
Work Environment & Schedule:
Remote camp-based assignment at Mica Dam with full accommodations.
4 days on, 3 days off rotation.
