Marketing Coordinator

 

Description:

This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing marketing, media relations and communication strategies, and assisting with government relations and internal communications. Working with management, plans, develops, and executes marketing and communication activities that position Applied Research positively to internal and external stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Creates awareness and support for Applied Research and its achievements among key stakeholder groups, including the BCIT community, government, industry, potential customers, and the broader public audience.
  • Manages social media for Applied Research; plans, develops, publishes and shares social media content that builds meaningful connections, increases awareness, and encourages users to engage.
  • Functions as primary liaison with BCIT’s Marketing and Communications Team to promote Applied Research activities, assess and respond to incoming media inquiries, and coordinate appropriate responses and interviews when necessary.
  • Identifies media stories/opportunities, develops and drafts communication materials including news releases, media and government event briefs and agendas, speaking notes, Institute key messaging, marketing and promotional materials, and website content; coordinates media shoots, broadcasts, and interviews.
  • Researches and develops stories that contribute to the Applied Research Strategic Plan, demonstrating Applied Research’s value, while building relationships across the Institute’s multiple campuses, as well as with external clients and stakeholders.
  • Plans, organizes, and facilitates events, workshops and related activities to showcase and promote Applied Research within BCIT and to government, industry and business; coordinates involvement in campus events (e.g. Big Info, PD Day, Open House, etc.); works with management to develop concepts and ideas, and maintains supply of promotional items.
  • Coordinates, promotes and implements the annual BCIT Student Innovation Challenge competition, encouraging students to adopt an innovative and entrepreneurial stance in their careers, and helping them turn new ideas into practical reality.
  • Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices,
    policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP).
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
