The Calgary Minor Soccer Association is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our team as a Marketing & Communications Coordinator. As the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in promoting CMSA’s programs, events, and initiatives to enhance participation in youth soccer in Calgary. This is an excellent opportunity for a marketing professional with a passion for sports and a drive to make a positive impact on the lives of young athletes.

This position reports directly to the Marketing and Communications Manager and oversees the Social Media Coordinator and the CMSA Street Team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

  • Promote CMSA programs, leagues, tournaments, and events and initiatives.
  • Design graphics and content for various marketing channels, including website, social media, video, email campaigns, print materials, internal and externa communications.
  • Coordinate and oversee the production of marketing materials such as print materials, signage, promotional products, and apparel.
  • Develop and distribute the monthly newsletter and membership communications.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their marketing needs and provide support in developing effective promotional materials.
  • Manage inventory and storage of marketing assets.
  • Ensure all marketing adheres to CMSA brand standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage website content.
  • Social media support and event live-posting as required.
  • Assist the Marketing Manager develop the Association’s indoor and outdoor marketing campaigns and key messaging.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of key documents such as annual reports, brochures, presentations, and promotional pieces as directed and required by other departments.

SOCIAL MEDIA

  • Manage CMSA’s social media accounts.
  • Direct the Social Media Coordinator.
  • Ensure consistent branding, timely posting, interaction with followers and increase followers.

CMSA STREET TEAM

  • Plan interactive events to grow the profile of soccer in Calgary.
  • Coordinate staffing and resources needed for execution.
  • Set clear objectives and measure results.

BUDGETING

  • Assist the Marketing Manager and the Finance and HR Manager to develop and evaluate annual budgets for the Marketing and Communications Department and adhere to budgetary constraints.

TEAM PARTICIPATION

  • Contribute to a positive team culture with staff, member clubs, and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute and participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • Attend CMSA events such as tournaments or 50thanniversary celebrations as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Post-secondary degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business is required.
  • Minimum of 1-year proven experience in a marketing and communications role.
  • Excellent visual storytelling skills with the ability to craft compelling messages in various formats.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with graphic design software like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite and video editing software.
  • Experience managing social media accounts, creating content, and growing followership across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp) and content management systems.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for soccer and an understanding of youth soccer would be considered an asset.
  • Approachable, adaptable, resourceful, and detail oriented.
  • Proficient abilities with Microsoft Office applications especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
