The Liquids Pipelines business unit is responsible for connecting Alberta's crude oil supplies to U.S. refining markets. As the Manager, Operations Engineering you will be leading a team of multi- discipline engineers to support the safe, reliable, sustainable and cost-effective operations of our pipeline facilities.

Reporting to the Manager, Operations Engineering and Technical Services, you will enable a team of technical experts to support the field in identification and evaluation of key issues/risks and opportunities that translate into a multiyear portfolio of projects. Following ‘Project Delivery Standards’ to develop creative, innovative and sound engineering solutions on operating brownfield assets to maximize equipment reliability, efficiency and safety.

What you'll do

  • Actively participate on the leadership team of Liquid Pipeline Operations Engineering
  • Provide clear strategic direction for the team to focus on value accretive initiatives
  • Provide framework to consistently evaluate and prioritize issues/risk and opportunities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to provide engineering design support
  • Develop practical and fit for service engineering solutions for field projects.
  • Support the team to deliver approved workplans to the project’s organization
  • Manage portfolio of opportunities to align with core values and Liquids BU strategy
  • Provide budgetary stewardship for planning cycles through portfolio optimization
  • Communicate portfolio to a variety of audiences, including senior leadership in a clear and concise manner.
  • Lead development & automation for business critical reliability reporting
  • Develop and maintain the operations Risk Management Plan
  • Provide field engineering support on Technical Requests and Management of Change
  • Develop team members and continuously increase team effectiveness

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA
  • 10+ years of related work experience as an Engineer with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Ability to provide strategic direction for the team
  • Ability to focus on projects with demonstrable impact on the business
  • High ownership and track record of delivering on commitments
  • Highly organized and effective, with proven success engaging and maintaining relationships across multiple functional areas
  • Demonstrates aptitude and willingness to be a change agent
  • Self-motivated, driven to achieve operational excellence
  • Positive attitude rooted in our core values of Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, Responsibility and Innovation
  • Travel to company locations in Canada and the US

Preferred Qualifications

  • Field operations engineering experience
  • Experience with an operating asset
