Description:
Destination St. John’s (DSJ) is seeking a dynamic, tourism-savvy professional for the role of Manager of Partnership and Experience Development. This is a full-time, on-site role located in St. John’s, NL, aimed at fostering strong stakeholder relationships and developing unique visitor experiences aligned with provincial and regional tourism goals such as Vision 2026 and the Northeast Avalon Destination Development Plan.
In this pivotal role, you will lead partnership engagement efforts and experience development strategies to enrich the visitor offerings in the St. John's region. This includes extending the tourism season, promoting culinary tourism, and enhancing market-ready experiences reflective of the region's culture and natural beauty.
Key Responsibilities:
Partnership Engagement:
Act as a primary liaison for DSJ’s partner network.
Develop and implement a refreshed membership model and fee structure.
Drive recruitment, retention, and regular communication with partners.
Coordinate marketing, partner communications, cooperative sales, and partner events.
Manage listings and advertising sales for DSJ’s Visitors Guide and Map.
Support the DSJ Partnership Advisory Committee.
Experience Development:
Develop and enhance visitor experiences that align with regional strategies and niche markets.
Collaborate with tourism operators, attractions, DMCs, and service providers.
Lead initiatives such as the Exceptional Experiences Program and Culinary Tourism Strategy.
Organize industry roundtables and networking events to foster collaboration.
Promote best practices in quality assurance.
Strategic Program Support:
Support the implementation of Vision 2026 and other strategic action plans.
Facilitate networks focused on extending tourism beyond peak seasons.
Engage in destination development committees and strategic projects.
Qualifications & Experience:
Post-secondary education in tourism, marketing, business, communications, or a related field.
A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in the tourism or hospitality sector.
Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Familiarity with Newfoundland and Labrador’s tourism landscape is a significant advantage.
A genuine passion for small business support and enthusiasm for the St. John’s region.
Additional Details:
Occasional regional travel and work outside regular hours may be required.
