Description:
The manager compensation is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the compensation function, encompassing non-represented and represented employees. The compensation manager plans, develops and implements compensation programs, policies and procedures to be support the company's strategy and respond to industry trends. In addition, this position will have accountability for salary surveys, benchmarking, the annual compensation cycle, job evaluation, salary recommendations and pay equity. The manager compensation, will also serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance, advice and interpretation of various compensation policies.
General Accountabilities:
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the compensation team; provides guidance and support to compensation professionals in order to ensure effective program delivery and to promote learning and career development within the compensation function
- Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures recommending revisions and new programs consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives; coordinates implementation and provides guidance to corporate staff.
- Manages the participation in external compensation and policy surveys to ensure compensation practices remain market aligned and competitive to attract, retain and motivate employees.
- Manages the annual compensation cycle (Merit and short-term incentive plan) for non-represented staff, in collaboration with the compensation team.
- Support the development of Board materials to seek approval for compensation related matters
- Provides advice on pay decisions, salary recommendation, policy, including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs.
- Oversees the job evaluation function for all jurisdictions.
- Develops employee and manager communications to promote understanding and effective utilization of the organizations compensation programs and processes.
- Collaborates with the labour relations team on compensation matters related to the collective bargaining process.
- Manage the pay equity related matters
- Keeps apprised of federal and provincial compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources or related field
- A minimum of 5 - 7 years’ related compensation experience or other relevant experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team
- Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with senior stakeholders
