Description:
Cineplex is seeking a Manager for the VIP Back of House (BOH) team in Markham, ON. This role supports the General Manager in achieving theatre-specific goals through hands-on leadership and management of food service operations within VIP areas, including kitchen and concessions. The BOH Manager is responsible for leading and developing staff, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, managing VIP operations, and maximizing profitability while upholding Cineplex values and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading and Managing the Team:
Hands-on supervision of BOH staff during busy periods
Delegate tasks, share accountability, and provide continuous feedback
Conduct performance evaluations for VIP Cooks and BOH staff
Manage recruitment efforts for VIP kitchen and BOH positions
Coach and mentor staff on performance, VIP metrics, and operational standards
Facilitate training sessions and maintain open communication with the team
Managing the Guest Experience:
Ensure guest F&B expectations are consistently exceeded
Coach BOH staff on food service quality, recipe adherence, and presentation
Maintain VIP professionalism and hospitality standards
Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements
Oversee food service for promotions, rentals, and special events
Managing the VIP Concept:
Ensure compliance with legislation (employment standards, health & safety, provincial liquor laws) and internal policies
Conduct audits and implement action plans to enhance VIP operations
Evaluate and manage third-party contracts
Monitor business fluctuations and proactively address operational needs
Maintain a safe working environment and complete all reporting requirements
Profit Maximization:
Manage inventory, labor costs, and controllables to maximize profitability
Share food service results with the team and implement management recommendations
Analyze financial statements to support revenue and cost control
Work Environment & Effort:
Extended periods standing, walking, bending, and assisting with theatre tasks
Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to travel to and support other theatre locations if needed
Qualifications & Skills:
Outgoing personality and leadership presence
Experience managing kitchen or hospitality operations
Knowledge of food preparation, handling, and safety
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong understanding of Windows, MS Office, and basic computer literacy
Knowledge of provincial ESA, Health & Safety regulations, and company policies
