Maintenance Planner

 

Description:

The Maintenance Planner Long Term is a new role, which offers the opportunity to develop and manage strategic maintenance plans that ensure the reliability, efficiency, and longevity of fixed plant assets. This role will focus on forecasting, budgeting, and scheduling major maintenance activities over a 1-5 year horizon, aligning with operational goals and capital planning.

Key result areas will include:

  • Develop and maintain long-term maintenance strategies for critical assets.
  • Align maintenance plans with production forecasts, shutdown schedules, and capital projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and reliability teams to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct lifecycle analysis and condition assessments to inform planning decisions.
  • Maintain an accurate asset registry and ensure compliance with asset integrity standards.
  • Prepare long-term maintenance budgets and forecasts.
  • Track and report on performance against budget and schedule.
  • Coordinate with Short-Term Planners/Supervisors to ensure seamless integration of long-term plans.
  • Develop major shutdown scopes and timelines in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Utilize CMMS (e.g., Pronto, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards etc) to manage maintenance data and planning workflows.
  • Analyse historical data to improve planning accuracy and asset reliability.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead initiatives to optimize maintenance strategies and reduce lifecycle costs.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

About you

As the Maintenance Planner Long Term, you have a relevant Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineer degree or diploma or hold a Trade certification in a related field with equivalent Heavy Industrial experience.

It is also important that you have/can demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance planning, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
  • Certification in Maintenance Planning or Asset Management (e.g., CMRP, CRL).
  • Strong understanding of asset management principles and reliability-centred maintenance.
  • Proficiency in CMMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with long-range capital planning and shutdown coordination.
  • Familiarity with ISO 55000 standards.
  • Strong attention to detail.
