Maintenance Coordinator

 

Description:

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA), a federal agency managing Canada’s largest port, seeks a Maintenance Coordinator for a term up to 6 months. The role involves coordinating contracted maintenance services for the Port Authority and Canada Place facilities, including docks, wharves, buildings, roadways, rail crossings, utilities, security systems, and other equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate maintenance tasks, conduct inspections, and report on asset conditions

  • Monitor tenant repairs to ensure compliance with lease agreements and asset management programs

  • Procure and manage contractors for maintenance projects, oversee repair progress, and coordinate project close-out with stakeholders

  • Administer service agreements, track contractor performance and invoice reconciliation

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with terminal managers, contractors, and other external contacts

  • Ensure purchasing activities align with budgets and financial procedures

  • Perform occasional maintenance repairs as needed

  • Monitor facilities and properties for maintenance and security issues, recommending remedial action

  • Record daily work details in VFPA’s maintenance ticketing system and communicate effectively with contractors and stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with trade certificate

  • Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience post-certification in maintenance coordination and asset management

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products

  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations and contractor safety management

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain detailed records

  • Marine Transportation Security Clearance required (or ability to obtain)

Work Environment & Other Details:

  • Normal office conditions with frequent exposure to adverse weather on terminals, roadways, and rail yards

  • Term position, full-time, hybrid work model

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Subject to background checks (criminal, credit, references)
